Juniors and seniors who enroll in the Wallkill course and meet the SCCC criteria will be able to gain 6 college credits. The college fees for such a class may save hundreds of dollars. Please check with your Guidance Counselor for course titles or questions.
COMPUTER LITERACY & CONCEPTS
This course includes all aspects of literacy--vocabulary, software, hardware, utilities, safety, and the Internet. The projects are hands-on. Technology and how we use it is interesting and fun.
COMPUTERS AND TECHNOLOGY FOR TODAY
The focus of this course is to teach the skills every computer user needs to know. Students will do hands-on applications. Practical projects requiring the coordination of skills help students prepare reports, muilti-media presentations, and personal websites.
INTRODUCTION TO ROBOTICS AND PROGRAMMING
Robotics is an interesting method of combining technology, science, and math. This course will present the basics of robotics via building and testing kit robots. The computer programming is interspersed throughout the languages: Visual Basic, Visual C++, and Java
VISUAL STUDIO 10 & JAVA PROGRAMMING
This course offers a high level programming experience in three languages--Visual Basic and Visual C++ in the Visual Studio environment and Java. If you are considering a career in computers, this is a great start.
AP COMPUTER SCIENCE A Concurrent CS I & CS II
The goals of an Advanced Placement A course in computer science are comparable to those in the introductory sequence of courses for computer science offered in colleges and universities. The course emphasizes programming methodology, concepts, and practices. The language is Java.
Prerequisite: Departmental Approval
DATA STRUCTURES HONORS
This course prepares the serious computer student in the use of lists, stacks, queues, and trees. The student will practice using these structures in their programs. At this level, large programs consisting of multiple classes will be written and analyzed.
Prerequisite: AP Computer Science A or Advanced Programming
WEB MASTER
Web site creation and management expertise are the goals of this course. The Wallkill valley website will be maintained, altered, and designed by the students in this class.
