Dear Parents,

The State Department of Education has legislated that high school students pass the 11th Grade High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) as part of their graduation requirements.  In order to help the students meet this requirement, Wallkill Valley Regional High School has designed a program to improve skills specifically found on this test.  This is our federally funded Title 1 program.

This letter is to inform you that your child, _______________________________, will be receiving skill training in the area of mathematics.

Studies show, and our experience indicates, that parental involvement is by far the most important ingredient in student academic success.  Accordingly, the Wallkill Valley School District is requesting your attendance at a meeting to be held on the evening of Thursday, September 22 at 6:45 PM in the Large Group Instruction Room (new wing).  Following our meeting is the Back to School Night presentation beginning at 7:30 PM.

During the course of this meeting, you will be supplied with information about our HSPA Program and how it addresses the skills tested on the High School Proficiency Assessment. You will also be asked for input regarding our Title 1 program.  I hope to see you at the meeting.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        John Petronaci,

                                                                        Assistant Principal
