The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mr. Castiglione, who made the following statement.

Pursuant to the Open Public Meeting Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1985, adequate notice as defined by Section 3D of Chapter 231, P.L. 1985, has been made by regular mail, such notice on the 4th day of March 2012 from the Board of Education offices maintained at the high school, Grumm Road, Hamburg, NJ to the following:

Mr. Bolcar gave a brief presentation of the budget and stated that the sole purpose of this meeting was to approve sending this budget to the County Superintendent for approval to advertise the budget to the public.  He noted that changes can still be made at any time from tomorrow right up until the night of the budget hearing.

Mr. Bolcar explained where some cuts were made.  Eleven clubs were cut, six sports were cut, two supervisors were cut, 8-3/5 teachers at this point as well as two special education aides.  We will save approximately $62,000 in health care costs from those people who are proposed to be eliminated from the staff.  We should get between $100,000 to $145,000 in extraordinary aid which may save some teachers.  We will try to rescue all we can so that students will come here instead of going to Vo-tech.  If we have some retirements, some teachers may be saved.  Mr. Bolcar went over which positions would be cut.  He recommended that we follow what Hopatcong did and pass a resolution regarding the cuts in state aid in Sussex County.

The meeting was opened to the public.  None were present.
